A variety of casual, short contract roles with Bolton Council

We’re supporting Bolton Council's efforts to recruit as the council calls for more people to join them while our country battles through its worse health crisis of a generation. The council is looking for people to fill a variety of care roles within Adult Services to look after the most vulnerable members of our communities.

They council is looking for friendly, caring, compassionate and dependable people to fill a variety of casual, short contract roles, including:

- Care Assistants
- Night Care Assistants
- Home Support Workers (this is a driving role and will require you to have a valid driving license and access to vehicle with Business insurance)

These posts require DBS checks.

Interviews will be held via telephone or video call, with recruiters looking to match your skills to the roles available.

If you’re not a key worker currently and have not received a shielded letter, please consider joining their workforce or volunteering to support front line services during this difficult time in any of the roles listed below.

On the job training will be provided for all roles (except for cook where Food Hygiene rules apply) and appropriate personal protective equipment and guidance will be provided.

The roles would require you to work shifts, the details of which are provided below, and can be discussed to meet personal needs.


CARE ASSISTANTS Grade C £18,426-£19,171 plus 7% enhancement / Night Care Assistants Grade C £18,426-19,171 Plus 30% enhancement

Providing Care to Older Adult Service Users in any of three care homes:

Laburnum Lodge – Breightmet
Darley Court – Shepherd Cross Street
Wilfred Gere - Farnworth

The role involves all aspects of care which includes moving and handling as well as personal care ensuring service users dignity and wishes are at the centre of the care provided.

If you have no prior experience of this type of work, they will support you to undertake these roles through a combination of on the job training and e-learning.

You would be required to work early, late and weekend shifts on a rota basis, though they’ll seek to accommodate personal circumstances as much as practicable.

The shift times are as follows:

For day workers:
Early – 7.15am-2.45pm
Late – 2.30pm-10pm

For night workers:
Night shifts start at 9.45pm and finish at 7.30am


HOME SUPPORT WORKERS Grade D £19,171-£21,166 plus 7%

Home Support Workers provide support to vulnerable adults within their own home. The job involves all aspects of care, which includes moving and handling, personal care and the administration of medication. You would need to be able to travel across the borough with access to you own car.

Training will be provided as well as the opportunity to shadow other staff.

Support workers work 28 hours per week with a combination of early, late and weekend shifts on a rota basis, though they’ll seek to accommodate personal circumstances as much as practicable.

Early shift – 7.15am – 1.15pm
Late Shift - 4pm – 10pm


GENERAL ASSISTANT Grade A £17,364-£18,065

To ensure general cleanliness and high standards of hygiene are maintained throughout the premises. To ensure that bedding, resident’s personal clothing are clean and freshly laundered. You will be required to complete cleaning schedules in accordance with Bolton Council/NHS requirements

General Assistants would be required in all three Care Homes Laburnum Lodge, Darley Court and Wilfred Gere.

You would be required to work early, late and weekend shifts on a rota basis, though they’ll seek to accommodate personal circumstances as much as practicable.

The shift times are as follows:

Early – 7.15am-2.45pm
Late – 2.30pm-10pm


COOKS Grade D £19,171-21,166 and KITCHEN ASSISTANTS Grade A £17,364-£18,065

Cooks and Kitchen Assistants required to support with catering the Older Adult care homes, Laburnum Lodge, Darley Court and Wilfred Gere.

Prior experience is required for cooks. No experience required for Kitchen Assistants.

The shifts are from 8.30am – 3pm and 1.30pm - 6.30pm.
