£20,000 donated to COVID-19 fund

The Sir James and Lady Scott Trust have made a generous donation of £20,000 to support Bolton’s Voluntary Sector COVID-19 Resilience Fund.

The Bolton’s Fund is a voluntary sector grants programme delivered in partnership by Bolton Council, NHS Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group, Bolton at Home and Bolton CVS.

The Bolton’s Fund partners created the COVID-19 Resilience Fund to support local good causes in helping with the community response. The focus of the fund is to provide grants to community groups and charities to support some of the most vulnerable residents in the borough at this challenging time.

This donation from The Sir James and Lady Scott Trust builds on the contribution of Bolton Council to the fund and will enable more community groups and organisations to reach more people, purchase the equipment they need and help them to work differently.

The Sir James and Lady Scott Trust was founded in 1909 by Bolton resident and founder of the Provincial Insurance Company – James Scott, and gives grants to the voluntary sector in Bolton.

Sir Christopher Scott, Chair of the Trust says: “The Sir James and Lady Scott Trust has a long and proud connection to Bolton and is therefore pleased to be able to contribute £20,000 to the Bolton’s Fund, to help local charities providing much needed solutions for dealing with the COVID-19 crisis.”

Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities, Cllr Nadim Muslim, said: “‘Bolton has always had a community and voluntary sector to be proud of. But it is now, when times are at their most challenging, that these groups are showing what an invaluable role they play in supporting the Bolton Family. This generous donation from the Sir James and Lady Scott Trust will provide essential financial assistance to the many organisations who are helping Bolton in the fight against coronavirus. My thanks to the trust and to the hardworking staff and volunteers on the frontline.”

Darren Knight, CEO at Bolton CVS added: “The Trust is already a generous contributor in Bolton and supports many amazing organisations across the borough. This is just another excellent example of how they’re committed to supporting the most vulnerable. I can’t thank them enough for helping with Bolton’s community response at this time.”
