Bolton’s Fund supporting local Social Enterprises

Bolton’s Fund supporting local Social Enterprises

The Bolton’s Fund is an investment programme for the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector in Bolton, bringing together funding from Bolton Council, NHS Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group, Bolton at Home and Bolton CVS.

The scheme launched last year and VCSE groups of all sizes are invited to bid for different rounds of funding, with each round targeted at addressing a key priority in the community.

We're pleased to announce that the latest round of funding will focus on Social Enterprise.

Grants up to £10,000 and £25,000 are available to enable early stage enterprises to develop as well as to support established enterprises improve their impact.

If you're trading or aim to trade for social purpose, or you're managing or aiming to create community assets, then this fund is for you.

Social Enterprise UK describes social enterprise as an approach taken by an organisation which has a clear social and/or environmental mission (set out in governing documents), which generates the majority of its income through trading, and reinvests the majority of its profits to further the social mission.

Groups will have until 11 December to apply and more information is available on the Bolton CVS website here: https://www.boltoncvs.org.uk/boltons-fund-0

Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities, Cllr Nadim Muslim, said: "Social enterprises perform such a vital role in the community, delivering valuable services and using any profits to support a wide variety of good causes. The sector has grown significantly in recent years and contributes to the local economy while also creating jobs and helping employees learn new skills. This latest funding round will help support our social enterprises and I am sure it will be welcomed at what has been a challenging time for the sector."

Bolton CVS’s Interim Chief Executive, Helen Tomlinson, said: "We are delighted to be releasing the next round of Bolton’s Fund which is all about growing and developing social enterprise in Bolton. Social enterprises play an important role in community wealth building and supporting local employment and training opportunities. If your group has a project that can help achieve these priorities or maybe you’re a social enterprise that wants to further develop your enterprise skills, we’d love to hear from you!"
