Over February half term, our Neighbourhood Services Team arranged community litter picks over three days in three areas around Farnworth and Little Lever.
Areas covered include the Oak and Ash Estate and the Town Centre in Farnworth as well as Dovebank in Little Lever.
Over 82 bags of litter collected and 23 skips filled. (Eight were filled within 30 minutes).
One resident gave feedback following the days of action. They said: "I live on this estate and it was job well done. The Bolton at Home staff worked hard sorting all the different refuse out and clearing up a lot of gardens. Let’s hope it can stay this way like it always used to be. And a big thank you to all the litter pickers.”
A huge thank you goes to all the residents and volunteers who got involved, our Farnworth Focus Team, Glendale Services — our green services provider, Bolton Borough Litter Pickers, Love Bolton Hate Litter, Bolton Council Enforcement Officers, and Little Lever Tesco who brought volunteers and much needed refreshments.
A special thanks goes to local councillors, Cllr David Meehan, Cllr Liam Barnard, Cllr Andrea Taylor Burke, Cllr Sanders and Cllr Connor Bennett who volunteered and to Cllr Sanders, Cllr Connor Bennett and Cllr Flitcroft who also part funded the cost of the skips.
They all made a huge difference in making our estates a cleaner, greener space for all to enjoy.
Our Neighbourhood Services Team leaflets areas before any planned litter picks but we welcome anyone who would like to volunteer for future events.
