Throughout the year, and particularly as we approach the colder months, Starts with you’s (our subsidiary) Home Energy Advisers Tom and Asif have been providing one-to-one guidance sessions on energy efficiency and ways to save on energy bills.

*Tom recently visited Dehra, who lives on her own and has multiple health conditions. Like some others in the community, Dehra was concerned about energy costs going into winter and was keen to see how the service could provide some reassurance.

Recognising Dehra’s concerns, Tom took action. He reached out to Dehra’s energy provider to explore ways to reduce her bills and ensure she was on the lowest tariff, and he identified practical ways to improve her home’s energy efficiency, including by installing radiator foils to prevent heat loss through external walls.

Plus, thanks to funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, Tom was also able to provide Dehra with energy-saving items* like a heated airer, slow cooker, electric fleece throw, blanket, and draft excluders; all aimed at keeping her home warmer and more energy-efficient during the winter months.
