Get involved in our events for the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence

We’ll be working with our partners to deliver three sessions in Gorton and Bolton* as part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence starting this Wednesday, 4 December. We’ve added details on each one below (and in the posters attached) if you’re keen to get involved.

If you’re not familiar with it, the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is a global campaign led by the United Nations that aims to:

  • raise awareness of gender-based violence against women and girls,
  • highlight local and global statistics around domestic abuse, femicide, and other gender-based issues,
  • challenge discriminatory attitudes,
  • and call for improved laws and services to end violence against women and girls.

We’ve supported the campaign with various awareness-raising community events and arts initiatives for the past 12 years. Here’s what we’re up to this year if you’re keen to be involved:

Creating Change events: come together to raise awareness of issues, learn about women’s support services, get crafty, find out about local activities, get involved in conversations, and watch local artists bring your words to life. Happening on:

  • Wednesday 4 December, 1pm to 4pm at Gorton Hub (Gorton Hub, 27 Garratt Way, M18 8HE).
  • Friday 13 December, 12pm to 3pm at Bolton UCAN Centre (inside Working Wardrobe, Unit 27B, The Market Place Shopping Centre, Bolton BL1 2AL).
