Our Working Wardrobe has a new home

Our Working Wardrobe has a new home

Last Friday (17 February 2023), we invited various partners/supporters, stakeholders, public figures, and others to a special 'relaunch' event to mark the grand opening of our new Working Wardrobe store.

Based at Unit 27B (next to The Entertainer) in The Market Place Shopping Centre, our new unit will not only ensure easier access for customers thanks to a more central location and better parking/public transport links, but more space to store/display kindly donated clothing and accessories, better facilities, and an even more welcoming environment for us to work with customers (and colleagues).

Since we opened it in 2018 (at its original location in Bradshawgate, Bolton), our Working Wardrobe has supported over 597 people by providing:

  • suitable interview attire,
  • sector-specific mock interviews and feedback (in person/remotely),
  • one to one interview preparation (in person/remotely),
  • and other tailored employment support..

..and 305 (51%) of these people have been offered jobs.

All of Working Wardrobe's services are offered at no cost to any local person who's been offered an interview (regardless of whether they're an existing customer of ours)- and past beneficiaries have told us:

"I could clearly see the pleasant surprise on the interviewer's face when he saw how smartly dressed I was for the interview. I have the team at Working Wardrobe to thank for this!" - Robert

"My first day in my new job went really smoothly and I felt so confident thanks to you. You've built my confidence so much that I feel like a new person! You made me feel so welcome in your stunning boutique with a wide selection of nice office wear. Thank you!" - Sammie

"The support you provided put me in a much better place than previous interviews. I felt more confident and fluent with my responses. I thought you were very smart in providing ideas on how to tackle certain types of question, and you gave me food for thought on how I could apply to my own experiences." - Seemab

"I'd like to formally thank you for all your help in preparing me for an interview. I wouldn’t have known where to begin, and you’ve picked out skills and qualities that I didn’t know I had." - Sierah

Working Wardrobe is just one of the services offered by colleagues in our Employment and Enterprise Team to help tenants and local people towards work and/or training.
