Short film: how a multi-team approach addressed important issues on Great Holme estate, Bolton (2024)

Watch our short film to see how a multi-team** approach has addressed a range of important issues for residents on Great Holme estate, Bolton, in 2024:

In the video, some of our colleagues talk about why the project was established, how we supported residents on the estate (including commentary from Kirsty, our tenant), and how we're now running a similar project in Farnworth.

Not all the people who worked on the project feature in this film; however, Chris, Lauren, Tracey, Wayne, Darren, and Great Holme resident Kirsty provide an overview of how we:

  • listened to customers to understand which issues were most important to them,
  • based our support for customers from the 'Great Holme Housing Hub' - a one-bedroom flat in the centre of the estate,
  • hosted various community events and activities in response to residents' feedback,
  • worked to improve the environment on the estate, including through clean-up events,
  • supported tenants with outstanding repairs and maintenance issues (such as through 'property MOTs'),
  • and more.

Even though our more focused work on the Great Holme estate came to an end this summer (2024), we'll still be there to help tenants in all the usual ways - like through our nearby UCAN centres (find them at: www.boltonathome.org.uk/ucan) and a dedicated residents' action group at Slaterfield Community Centre.

**We'd like to say a special thanks to everyone involved in making the project a success, including our: Community Engagement Team, Community-Based Repairs Operative (and Manager), Neighbourhood Services Team, Tenancy Support and Sustainment Team, Neighbourhood Safety and Enforcement Service, Income Management Team, and Money Advice Team.

We'd also like to thank our external partners involved, like: Irwell Valley, Bolton Council, local schools, health practitioners, and Greater Manchester Police.
