Tackling antisocial behaviour is crucial, but this work can also be challenging

Staff in our Neighbourhood Safety and Enforcement Service work hard to support communities where people feel safe, respected, and heard.

Tackling antisocial behaviour and tenancy breaches is crucial, but this work is also challenging and can be misunderstood, which we know can sometimes lead to disappointment. From listening to your reports, to taking appropriate action, we’re committed to resolving cases involving our customers.

  • We’re sometimes asked why we can’t just evict perpetrators. We’re a team dedicated to following proper processes that require evidence, collaboration, and sometimes, a bit of time.
  • And we’re more than enforcers of tenancy agreements. With extra support services in place, and resources including good neighbour (www.boltonathome.org.uk/good-neighbour-guide) and pet guides (www.boltonathome.org.uk/pets), that were shaped by our customer scrutiny and youth scrutiny groups, we try to help in different ways to foster a sense of community and mutual respect, and proactively nip some issues in the bud.

Remember: if you’re experiencing any issues with antisocial behaviour, or have any concerns about how we’re dealing with these issues, please phone us on 01204 328000, email us at info@boltonathome.org.uk, or get more info at www.boltonathome.org.uk/tackling-asb.

P.S. at any time, we’d encourage you to familiarise yourself with our Antisocial Behaviour and Enforcement Policy. It’s not a bunch of rules on a page, it’s an open book on what we can do within our powers to help tackle some of the disruptions and serious concerns that might arise in neighbourhoods, with some facts that might surprise you. You can find it on our website: www.boltonathome.org.uk/tackling-asb.

We're sharing these messages to cut through some of the complexities of neighbourhood safety work, with refreshers on types of antisocial behaviour that we can help with, reporting procedures, and an understanding of how we address issues and can support one another.
