Unclaimed Child Trust Funds: don’t miss out

Unclaimed Child Trust Funds: don’t miss out

If your child’s future began with a head start, let’s make sure they don’t miss out on it.

Did you know the government may have set up a savings account for your child when they were younger?

Some families don’t realise that there could be money waiting to be claimed.

Some accounts have £250, £500, some £2,000, or more.

What is a Child Trust Fund (CTF)?

It’s a savings account the government set up for some children born between 1 September 2002 and 2 January 2011.

If your child is under 18, check if they have one.

If they’re 18 or older, they can claim their money now. Make sure they don’t miss out on what might be sitting in their name and the opportunities it could provide.

How to check if you child has a CTF – it  only takes a few minutes:

Step one: go to www.gov.uk/child-trust-funds and enter your details.

Step two: if they had an account, HMRC can you tell you where it is.

Step three: if they’re over 18, they can withdraw the money or move it into savings.
