We’re making some important changes to our UCAN centres to serve more of our customers and communities and make the most of our resources. Here’s what’s happening and why.
We’re opening a new UCAN centre service in Bolton Town Centre at the Market Place. It’ll be located together with our Working Wardrobe offer, providing more accessible support to our community overall.
Initially, it’ll be open three/four days per week, with plans to expand to full-time hours, including late-night openings, by 1 April 2025.
We’ll provide more information about this soon.
We've now closed our Great Holme Pop-Up UCAN Centre, and we'll soon be closing the one in Kearsley. However, we’re opening a new one near Farnworth Town Centre from October 2024.
This flexible approach means we can move to more places and help more people over time.
New opening times for static UCAN centres
To support these other changes, we need to adjust the opening times at Breightmet, Deane, New Bury, Tonge Moor, and Withins UCAN centres. However, at least one of our range of centres will be open each weekday.

We want to use our resources in the best way possible to help more people in our communities.
Housing providers across the country are having to work harder to manage their finances because of the tough economic conditions of the last few years. This means we’ve had to rethink how some of our services are provided.
We want to make sure our services provide better value for money for our customers, and this includes our UCAN centre services. By focusing on where our services are most needed and accessible, we can ensure that more customers receive the support they need.
